Domestic Violence Program

The Domestic Violence Program is dedicated to addressing and preventing domestic abuse in Uganda through community education, advocacy, and survivor support. Many families face significant challenges due to domestic violence, often exacerbated by economic hardship, cultural norms, and limited access to legal and psychological support services.

Domestic violence remains a pressing issue affecting women, children, and even men in Uganda. The program not only raises awareness but also provides critical intervention strategies such as safe shelters, crisis hotlines, and legal advocacy. It emphasizes community-driven solutions, encouraging dialogue and support networks to foster an environment where survivors can seek help without fear of stigma or retaliation. By working with law enforcement agencies, social workers, and local leaders, the initiative strengthens protections for victims and ensures they receive the necessary support to rebuild their lives.

Objectives

To educate communities, prevent domestic violence, and support survivors through awareness campaigns, legal aid, and psychological support services. The program focuses on providing counseling services, training community members to identify and intervene in domestic violence situations, and establishing safe shelters for survivors.

We are working to strengthen legal protections by collaborating with law enforcement and advocacy groups to ensure justice for victims and long-term social change. The initiative also aims to address the root causes of domestic violence, including economic dependency and lack of education, by integrating financial literacy programs and skills training for survivors to foster long-term independence and resilience
